BlueEdge Vitality HCASM
The BlueEdge Vitality HCA plans are another part of the BCBSTX portfolio of consumer-driven health plans. The BlueEdge Vitality HCA plans put members in charge of their health by empowering them to make their own decisions about how their health care dollars are spent. BCBSTX provides online tools and resources to help members make wise and informed decisions about their health care and better manage their health care benefits.
Here is what makes BlueEdge Vitality HCA an exciting option:
BlueEdge Vitality HCA provides an employer a unique, cost-effective post-retirement option to offer to their members. BlueEdge Vitality HCA funds are tracked each year and are accumulated while the member is actively employed. The employer sets aside a specific amount of money each year through funds from incentive-based rewards or lump sum contributions. Members only have access to the BlueEdge Vitality HCA funds upon a retirement date selected by their employer. Funds roll over year to year and if the member changes jobs or medical plans, the HCA funds stay with their employer. Members can only access the funds upon retirement.
The HCA account is coupled with a PPO plan. Benefit levels vary depending on whether care is received in-network or out-of-network. Members must use the network providers to receive the higher (in-network) level of benefits.
BlueEdge Vitality HCA plans are available to clients through the Blue Choice Network, one of the largest networks in Texas. Blue Choice provides:
- Access to the national BlueCard® network when members are outside of Texas
- Over 600 participating hospitals and facilities in Texas
- More than 800,000 doctors and 6,000 hospitals contracting with Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans nationwide
For care outside of Texas, members have access to the BlueCard national network of providers.
The BlueEdge Vitality HCA is also offered as a stand-alone product on a self-funded basis.
