Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act Member Emails
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas members who currently are enrolled in Medicare Supplement Plans C, F, F Select and High-Deductible F were sent emails to inform them that the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (“MACRA”) mandates on these plans will not affect them.
The messaging included:
- The MACRA was signed into law in 2015 and makes changes to the sale of certain Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans beginning January 1, 2020.
- Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans C, F, F Select and High-Deductible F cannot be sold to beneficiaries who become Medicare-eligible on or after January 1, 2020.
- This change does not affect beneficiaries who are already enrolled in Plans C, F or high-deductible F, or become Medicare-eligible before January 1, 2020.
- If your clients are currently enrolled in Medicare Supplement Plans C, F, F Select or High-Deductible F, they can keep this plan after January 1, 2020. Your clients will not be required to enroll in another plan or take any further action.
Another reminder email is scheduled to be deployed to current members of these plans in early September.
